The White Tiger
(Hvíta Tígrisdýrið)
The White Tiger (Hvíta tígrisdýrið) is a fantasy play by Bryndís Ósk Þ. Ingvarsdóttir. It tells the story of three child-like characters: Klakadrengurinn (Icicle boy) who conceals a howling ice storm under his many layers of sweaters, Gírastúlkan (Cog girl) who makes fantastical inventions for anyone but herself and Ósýnilega stúlkan (See-through girl) who was ignored so much that she became invisible a long time ago. The three of them have never left the attic because Konan með kjólfaldinn (The woman in skirts) tells them it isn’t safe. One quiet night a butterfly appears in the attic and prompts the rebellion of the children, who decide to venture out and discover the outside world for themselves.
The White Tiger premiered at the Reykjavík City Theatre in January 2023.
